Zohran Mamdani Backs Broader New York Data Center Moratorium

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will urge Governor Kathy Hochul to sign legislation that would expand and codify the state's data center moratorium.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he will urge Governor Kathy Hochul to sign legislation expanding the state's data center moratorium, according to Gizmodo. Mamdani made the commitment Monday night at the People's AI Assembly in New York City.

Hochul's current executive order pauses new data center projects that use more than 50 megawatts while the Department of Public Service reviews their environmental effects. The Responsible Data Center Development Act would codify the moratorium and lower the threshold to more than 20 megawatts. Data centers using more than 5 megawatts would also have to meet renewable energy and labor standards.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
