Agility and FORT Expand Safety System for Digit 5
Agility Robotics and FORT Robotics are expanding the safety system for Digit 5, the humanoid robot unveiled in September, under a memorandum of understanding. The companies announced the agreement in a press release on October 1.
The planned architecture combines a safety pendant, communications on the robot and interfaces that connect Digit 5 with external safety systems. A jointly developed Offboard Safety Bridge will extend safety inputs beyond the robot, while the pendant will provide an emergency stop, monitoring controls and a manual override for setup, maintenance and unexpected situations.
The agreement also covers joint hardware work, solutions engineering, regulatory compliance and deployment support. Digit 5 is designed to work near people in warehouses, manufacturing sites and logistics facilities, using human detection, safety cues and motion controls.
