EDGE Sound Research said in a press release that it raised $2 million in funding led by Stormbreaker Ventures. The investment brings its total funding to $9 million.

The company combines sound with video, tracking, timing and location data to help AI systems interpret physical environments. Its platform isolates individual sounds and events from overlapping noise, then produces structured information about what happened, where and when.

EDGE Sound Research already provides its Virtual Sound Engine for live sports, with customers and partners including the NBA, Fox Sports, the United States Tennis Association and Shure. It will use the funding to expand deployments, add proprietary sensor data and develop applications for robotics, autonomous systems and intelligent environments.
