Meta Says Claude Tool Triggered No Kings Instagram Suspension

Meta says an automated security system mistakenly suspended the No Kings Coalition's Instagram account after a Claude tool accessed content in rapid bursts.

Meta says an automated security system mistakenly suspended the No Kings Coalition's Instagram account on Oct. 17, The Straits Times reports. A tool from Anthropic's Claude accessed profiles, posts and hashtags in bursts at about four times the normal rate, which resembled automated bot traffic.

An automated review restored the account about an hour later, although organizers waited longer to regain administrative access. Meta apologized and said the suspension was an error.

The coalition said its page was unavailable for about 90 minutes during nationwide demonstrations and an early voting push ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. Meta did not identify the Claude tool, its operator or the purpose of its activity.
