OpenAI and Poland's NASK Partner on AI Safety Research
OpenAI and Poland's NASK National Research Institute signed an agreement to explore collaboration on AI safety, security and technical research, the organizations announced in a press release. The work will involve NASK's AI Safety Research Center, which serves as the Polish Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute.
The organizations will study methods for evaluating increasingly capable AI systems, finding potential vulnerabilities and strengthening safeguards. NASK's center already researches safeguards against emerging risks, detection of AI-generated content, malicious uses of AI and multilingual safety challenges.
The agreement follows work between OpenAI and CERT Polska, which operates within NASK. CERT Polska gained access to OpenAI's cyber-capable models in July and used them to help find six vulnerabilities in MikroTik RouterOS, including flaws that could be combined to take control of affected devices without authentication. MikroTik released fixes for the vulnerabilities.
