Ramp Index Puts Business AI Adoption at 56.1 Percent
Ramp reports in its AI Index that 56.1% of businesses in its sample spend on AI models, subscriptions, tokens or APIs. The index uses transaction data from more than 70,000 US businesses that use Ramp corporate cards and bill payment services, and is updated monthly. August 2026 is the latest release.
The same chart puts the US Census Bureau's Business Trends and Outlook Survey estimate at 22.1%. The two measures differ by a factor of more than two because they count different things: Ramp observes payments that businesses actually made, while the Census figure comes from businesses describing their own AI use in a survey.
Neither number captures free tools or software employees buy on personal accounts, so both are floors rather than totals. Ara Kharazian is the index's lead economist.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
