Reducto AI introduced r-1, a document parsing model for complex PDFs, scans, spreadsheets, and other files, announced in a press release.

The company says r-1 reduces parsing errors by up to 20% and costs 1 cent per page. Reducto AI says the model handles layout detection, reading order, tables, formatting, grounding, and granular citations in one parse.

The model is designed for dense tables, unusual layouts, low quality scans, handwriting, watermarked content, and files without predictable templates. Reducto AI says r-1 can replace document workflows that use separate providers or processing steps for different file types.

r-1 is available in preview through a configuration flag in the Reducto Parse API. Reducto AI also plans to add r-1 mini for workloads that need lower cost or faster processing, along with automatic routing that selects a model for each page.
