Reflection AI Unveils Beam Open Weight Model

Oct 6, 2026
Reflection AI unveiled Beam, a text model for reasoning, coding, and agent tasks. The company says it matches leading Chinese open models while requiring less computing power.

Reflection AI unveiled Beam, its first frontier open weight model, according to TechCrunch. The text only model uses a mixture of experts architecture and is designed for reasoning, coding, and agent tasks.

Beam has 501 billion total parameters, with 23 billion active parameters. Reflection pretrained it on 23.8 trillion tokens and gave it a context window of 1 million tokens.

Reflection says Beam matches Z.ai's GLM 5.2 on advanced reasoning benchmarks and surpasses leading Western open models while using three to four times less computing power during inference. These performance claims have not been independently verified.

The company plans to release Beam's weights and full technical details in October. Distribution will include cloud providers and integrations with open source libraries.
