Rutgers University and RWJBarnabas Health will open an innovation hub that gives students access to AWS cloud and AI tools for health care projects.

Rutgers University and RWJBarnabas Health announced in a press release the Rutgers/RWJBarnabas Health Innovation Hub, powered by Amazon Web Services. The New Brunswick, New Jersey, hub will use AWS cloud and AI technologies for projects in medical education, clinical work and patient care.

The first group will include up to five interdisciplinary student teams working on projects lasting four to 10 weeks. Focus areas may include clinical decision support, student health, hospital operations, health equity and medical education.

Rutgers faculty, RWJBarnabas Health clinicians and AWS engineers will mentor participants. Students will also receive AWS cloud credits, technical support and access to the AWS Cloud Innovation Centers network.

The hub will operate from the Health and Life Science Exchange and is expected to begin work in fall 2026. It will expand the Rutgers Health Hack into a year round program and help move selected prototypes into research, education and clinical use.
