Google Expands Health AI Work in Singapore
Google detailed plans in a company blog post to expand its health AI work in Singapore. The collaboration covers scientific research, clinical care and tools for preventive health.
Google will establish a local research hub staffed by scientists and software engineers. The group will work on foundational AI models and collaborate with the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. Google also plans to expand health research involving MedGemma, an open model that can support customized clinical tools while keeping data within the country.
Google DeepMind will work with the National University Health System to evaluate an AI tool that summarizes medical guidelines and literature for clinicians. Google Cloud and NHG Health are also developing a program that predicts health risks and provides personalized guidance through the NHG HealthBot using Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience.
Google.org and Google DeepMind will contribute $7 million to the Philanthropy Asia Alliance's Health for Human Potential Coalition. The funding includes $1 million for PathGen, an AI platform designed to help countries detect disease threats and share public health data while retaining control of local data.
