Chrome Adds Gemini Scam Detection and ClickFix Warnings

Oct 22, 2026
Chrome is adding Gemini based scam detection, suspicious site alerts, and warnings for copied commands linked to ClickFix attacks.

Google is adding Gemini based scam detection and ClickFix warnings to Chrome, according to BleepingComputer. The features are part of the browser's Enhanced Protection mode in Safe Browsing.

Chrome will use a server side Gemini model to assess a page's represented brand, intent, and likelihood of being a scam. Safe Browsing combines that assessment with domain reputation and other security signals. Chrome sends page text only when a site shows high confidence scam indicators, and Google says the content is not logged, retained, or used for model training.

Chrome is also adding a suspicious site warning for pages that show deceptive patterns but do not meet the threshold for its existing full page warning. For suspected ClickFix attacks, Chrome removes personally identifiable information from copied commands and sends the remaining clipboard content to Safe Browsing. It displays a warning if the command is classified as dangerous.
