Deepgram Acquires Pipecat Maker Daily
Deepgram is acquiring Daily, the company behind the Pipecat framework, according to TechCrunch. The companies did not disclose the price and said Pipecat will remain open source.
Pipecat manages voice and video streams and connects components such as speech to text systems, language models, and text to speech models. Daily also provides hosted infrastructure for voice and video calls. Daily has raised more than $62 million, according to PitchBook data cited by TechCrunch, while Deepgram became a unicorn earlier this year with a $130 million Series C.
Deepgram is also launching the Real-Time Context Standard, an open protocol developed with the Pipecat team. It defines how voice agents can pass audio context, model instructions, and guidance about how responses should sound.
