Flagship Pioneering Merges Three Biotech Platforms Into Etcelera

Flagship Pioneering announced in a press release the formation of Etcelera, which combines the platforms of Cellarity, Etiome and Empress Therapeutics. The new company will use biological data and Flagship's AI tools to identify disease causes, select drug targets and develop small molecule treatments.

Etcelera combines human transcriptomic data, chemoproteomics and perturbation data. Its technology includes a foundation model trained on data from 150 million cells and more than 30 proprietary AI prediction models.

The company begins with programs in hematology, metabolism and immunology, including work on myelofibrosis, essential thrombocythemia and metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis. Ad Rawcliffe will serve as CEO, while Alec Reynolds will serve as chairman.
