iReprogram and University of Michigan Launch AI Diabetes Cell Initiative
iReprogram and the University of Michigan have launched a multimillion dollar initiative focused on cell therapies for diabetes, the company said in a press release. The Michigan Initiative to Reprogram Cells for Diabetes includes experts from seven university departments, three industry partners and a nonprofit partner.
The initiative will use AI to improve predictions for converting patient cells into cell types damaged by diabetes. Research will cover pancreatic beta cells and cells associated with kidney, cardiovascular, retinal and fibrotic diseases.
iReprogram's Data Guided Control platform predicts the transcription factors, timing and dosage needed to change cell identities. Its Gold Standard Workflow will test those predictions and feed experimental results back into the platform.
