HHS Plans Sole Source Claude Contract With Anthropic
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services plans to award Anthropic a sole source contract for continued access to Claude, according to Becker's Hospital Review. The agency posted a notice of intent on SAM.gov on October 19 for a limited continuity of services award.
The temporary contract would remain in place until HHS completes a competitive, multiple award purchasing agreement for enterprise AI models. The notice did not disclose the contract value or an expected award date.
HHS said Claude is already integrated into its infrastructure and supports chat, writing, summarization, coding, agents, connectors, single sign on, and audit exports. Department data will not be used for model training by default and must remain in the continental United States. Anthropic must also report security incidents within one hour.
HHS instructed employees in March to stop using Claude after President Donald Trump ordered federal agencies to phase out Anthropic technology during the company's dispute with the Pentagon. The new notice does not address that order.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
