OpenAI Releases GPT-6.1 Terra for Computer Use at Half the Price
OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra, a fast mid-size model for computer use, visual reasoning and writing, the company announced. It is available today to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and through the API as gpt-6.1-terra.
API prices are $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. On the Agents' Last Exam computer-use benchmark, OpenAI said GPT-6.1 Terra scores 15 points higher than GPT-5.6 Terra at medium reasoning for about a third of the cost, performs on par with GPT-6 Astra, and costs about nine times less per task than Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 at maximum effort.
OpenAI said GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra remain better for the most complex coding. GPT-6.1 Terra meets the Critical threshold for cybersecurity under OpenAI's Preparedness Framework and keeps the safeguards built for GPT-6 Astra.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
