Tensor and Münchner Taxi Zentrum Plan Up to 500 Robotaxis in Germany
Tensor and Münchner Taxi Zentrum signed a letter of intent to deploy up to 500 Tensor Robocars as autonomous taxis in German cities, the companies said in a press release. The deployment remains subject to final agreements and Level 4 regulatory approval in Germany.
Münchner Taxi Zentrum will operate the vehicles under its own brand and connect them to its existing dispatch systems. The taxi operator will control fleet operations, customer relationships and data, while Tensor will sell the vehicles and provide autonomous driving software, fleet management tools, service and training through a subscription.
The partners also plan to offer the same model to other European taxi companies and fleet operators. They are targeting 10,000 additional Robocars in Europe within 24 months of the vehicle becoming available there and will explore sales to private buyers in Germany.
