Electric Plant raises $11.2 million for plant signal AI

Electric Plant raised $11.2 million in seed funding and introduced Bombadil, an AI model that analyzes electrical signals from plants to guide water and nutrient decisions.

Electric Plant emerged from stealth with $11.2 million in seed funding and introduced its Bombadil model for interpreting plants' electrical signals, according to Technology.org. Onto Ventures and Climactic led the round, with participation from Ponderosa, Endeavor Catalyst, Ludlow, Michigan Rise, The Fund, Schox VC and Dug Song.

The company's Bud sensor attaches to a plant with stainless steel screws that reach the cambium beneath the bark. It measures changes in electrical signals and sends the readings through a low power wireless network to a base station. Bombadil analyzes the data in the cloud and provides information that growers can use to adjust watering and fertilizer schedules.

Bombadil was trained on signal data from 100 plant species and can interpret signals from about 125 species. Electric Plant says growers need about two sensors per acre, with each sensor costing tens of dollars. Chief executive Justin Mast claims the system can cut water use by 20% or more. The company has not named its first customers.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
