Google Opens Connected Apps Platform Preview to US Developers

Oct 28, 2026
Google's Connected Apps Platform lets developers integrate their services with Gemini and Search through MCP servers or Android APIs.

Google is opening its Connected Apps Platform to US developers through a public preview, according to TechCrunch. The platform expands earlier connected app support in AI Mode by letting businesses submit services for use in Gemini, Search, or both.

Developers can connect an app through an MCP server hosted in the cloud or through Android MCP using AppFunctions APIs. They can then register, test, and submit the app through Google Connected Console. Once published, the console provides data on traffic, latency, and error rates.

Gemini currently offers more than 50 connected apps, including services from Adobe, Experian, Localiza, and Peloton. Google will bring these integrations to Search over the next few weeks, while Calm plans to add its app to both Gemini and Search. Google did not provide a date for wider access to the platform.
