Syncere raises $11 million for its Lume robot lamp
Syncere, a Palo Alto startup, raised an $11 million pre seed round led by a16z Speedrun, according to The Next Web. Draper Associates, Physical World, Sequel and SeaX Ventures also participated.
The company will use the funding to deliver its first Lume units, expand manufacturing capacity and adapt its robotics technology for commercial uses. The robot starts at $2,699 and also functions as a floor lamp.
Lume can move around a home to fold laundry, tidy rooms and make beds. Owners can teach it their preferred methods, and Syncere is developing an onboarding process to help it learn household preferences and home layouts.
Syncere plans to collect data from robots deployed in homes and improve their capabilities through software updates. Co-founder and chief executive Aaron Tan said home robotics has "a deployment problem disguised as a data problem."
