AppZen Introduces AI Agents for VAT Reclaims

AppZen announces in a press release a group of AI agents that automate value added tax recovery from expenses and invoices. The VAT Reclaim Agents will become generally available in January 2027.

The agents extract supplier details, tax amounts, rates and transaction data from documents. They assess each transaction under the relevant jurisdiction rules, determine whether VAT is fully or partly recoverable, and record the reasoning and legal basis for each decision.

When documents or information are missing, the agents can contact employees and suppliers, send reminders, process responses and return transactions for another assessment. The system works with AppZen Autonomous AP and AppZen Expense Audit, using transaction data and existing integrations with travel, expense and finance platforms.
