Oct 26, 2026
Elon Musk said SpaceX closed $40 billion in debt financing for GPUs that are expected to arrive in the first half of 2027.

Elon Musk said SpaceX has closed $40 billion in debt financing to buy GPUs for AI, CNBC reported. In posts on X on Sunday, Musk said the financing is mostly callable debt and the GPUs are expected to arrive in the first and second quarters of 2027.

Bloomberg had reported that SpaceX was in talks with banks and investors to raise $40 billion for Nvidia chips through a special purpose vehicle, with Goldman Sachs leading talks that included Apollo Global Management. SpaceX's AI unit is now its largest business, with third-quarter revenue of $7.56 billion, up from $813 million a year earlier.

Musk also said debt markets have largely closed to companies without substantial revenue outside AI data centers, and predicted failures and consolidation among more than 200 neocloud companies.
