OpenAI is offering steep discounts to win major customers from Anthropic, according to The Information. Rippling CEO Parker Conrad said the company increased OpenAI's share of its coding workload from 16 percent to 52 percent, while Anthropic's share fell from 57 percent to 18 percent.

Replit shifted spending after OpenAI offered a discount of more than 30 percent on a contract worth over $100 million annually. DataCamp CEO Jonathan Cornelissen said OpenAI's pricing reduced its costs by 80 to 90 percent.

A US bank with more than $7 billion in assets had its ChatGPT seats doubled to 500 at no extra charge. Its price was below $7 per user, compared with the usual price of at least $20.

OpenAI has also lowered costs through its Sol and Luna model lines, which use more efficient models and infrastructure. Anthropic's growth slowed from the second quarter to the third quarter, according to an investor memo.
