Zero Networks Contains Claude Cyberattack in Segmentation Test
Zero Networks said in a press release that Claude compromised an exposed machine during an evaluation for the Anthropic Cyber Verification Program, but could not move into systems protected by microsegmentation. The model gained administrator access and extracted credentials from the machine before segmentation blocked further access.
Zero Networks built a test environment with Windows, Linux and macOS systems, Kubernetes and other workloads. It applied its segmentation controls across the environment while leaving one machine unsegmented as the initial target.
Claude attempted 18 attack paths using 23 offensive tools and 22 MITRE ATT&CK techniques. These included credential extraction, Kerberoasting and a pass-the-hash attempt, but the model remained confined to the first compromised machine.
Zero Networks sells the microsegmentation software that was tested, and the results are the company's own account of the evaluation.
